Douglas Aircraft Company (DAC) The DC-8 Skybus Proposal

The article below describes a very early design proposal of what the Douglas DC-8 might have become if it had been built just after World War II. The DC-8 Skybus proposal was radically different from what we know now as the DC-8 Jetliner and I am just very grateful that it was never built! If you read it then you will see what I'm talking about. However, there is one design feature that both the Skybus Proposal & the DC-8 Jetliner have in common -- both have air scoops in the lower part of the nose. A DC-8 just wouldn't be a DC-8 without those Air Scoops in the Nose!
