Prototype Design

1/164 Scale

Color Scheme: Prototype Colors

Registration: N80000

Composition: Plastic

Dimensions: Length: 10.25" (26cm), Wingspan 9.75" (25cm)

Condition: Good - EXCEPT for the Missing the Number 2 Engine & Pylon

Model History: Produced in the middle 1950s by an unknown maker (possibly Allyn). I was attracted to this model, not because of it's quality, but for it's Livery. I have seen this Douglas Livery in Early Design Concept Pictures. The use of the Script "Douglas Eight" on the Fuselage and "DC-8" on the Tail, plus the Distinct Window & Door Configuration are Indicative of this Early DC-8 Design Livery. If you would like to see a slightly later DC-8 Design Livery please check it out as "Ship One Prototype #2" in this same section. Acquired on September 9, 2002 from an eBay Seller. Someday I hope to find a replacement engine & pylon for the Number 2 Engine.
