Prototype Design

1/164 Scale

Color Scheme: Prototype Colors

Registration: N80000

Composition: Plastic

Dimensions: Length: 10.25" (26cm), Wingspan 9.75" (25cm)

Condition: Very Good - EXCEPT for the Missing Number 2 & 3 Engines & Pylons

Model History: Produced in the middle to late 1950s by an unknown maker (possibly Allyn). Again, I was attracted to this model, like the other prototype model, for it's Livery. I have seen this Douglas Livery in Early Design Concept Pictures but this livery is a little more recent than the first DC-8 Prototype Model. The use of the Script "Douglas DC-8" on the Fuselage and "DC-8" on the Tail, plus the Distinct Window & Door Configuration are indicative of another Early DC-8 Design Livery. If you would like to see a slightly earlier DC-8 Design Livery please check it out as "Ship One Prototype #1" in this same section. Acquired on October 14, 2004 from an eBay Seller. Someday I hope to find replacement engines & pylons for the Number 2 & 3 Engines.
